Christmas Market at Herne Hill

There is no proper Christmas without a Christmas market. On Sunday I put on my gorgeous shearling Jacket and my Balenciaga and headed over to Herne Hill which is not far away from where I live. Yes, it may not be the biggest market however I went to check my boyfriend’s stall. Some of you may know that my boyfriend and his friends are running a brewery in London – London Beer Lab and they decided to open a stall alongside all other cheese, punch and food stalls at Herne Hill Christmas market.

The atmosphere was fantastic and it really felt like Christmas. Such a wonderful time of the year. I hope you are all ready and excited at least as I am.

To by nebyly poradne Vanoce bez Vanocnich trhu. V Nedeli jsem se oblekla do me oblibene a teploucke bundy a vydala se do Herne Hill, ktery neni daleko od meho bytu. Tento Vanocni trh neni urcite nejvetsi, ale rozhodla jsem se tam jit podivat, jelikoz muj pritel, ktery ma svuj pivovar si s kamarady otevrel stanek. A tak jsem se rozhodla vam nafotit par fotek, protoze vsechno vypadalo tak krasne a lakave…od domaciho peciva, pres zeleninu, vanocni ozdoby ci vyborne syry.

Prestoze trh byl malicky, tak mel krasnou Vanocni atmosferu a nevedela jsem kam koukat prvni. Doufam, ze uz se vsichni tesite alespon tak jako ja.

Tip of the Week….Kensington Quarter

One of the best things about blogging is the fact you can discover new places…like this amazing, cosy and stylish restaurant Kensington Quarter. It is not just a restaurant as you can literally look at this place from any angle – cafe, restaurant, bar or deli. Yes, multinational spot with delicious food and great deco.

If you feel you are in a need of glamorous night with your girlfriends you can put on your best shoes and head over to Earl’s Court to this fab place and if you need a coffee and a cake you can treat yourself in the same place. How amazing is that?

We had 9 courses during our evening…yes 9…! It is impossible to eat more than 2 or 3 bits of each otherwise you literally could not walk. Everything was delicious and the presentation was top class…however my number one starter was Salad of Confit Lancaster Duck Leg. I loved all the main courses and still torn in between Butternut Squash risotto and Five Spices Braised Shoulder Mutton. When I come here again I think it will take me few minutes to decide which one to go for. LOL

And although I am not much of a dessert person these were all fab…from presentation to how they tasted. Everything was literally melting in your mouth however the winner was Lemon Meringue Pie. And even when it comes to wine I loved the dessert wine the most…Monbazillac Jour de Fruit 2011 really got my heart.

To be honest I may as well go for this instead of a dessert next time. I bet if you are looking at these pictures you are getting hungry. I am not blaming you as the dishes looked fantastic and they tasted even better.

Jedna z nejlepsich veci na blogovani je, ze mate moznost objevovat nova mista. Jako napriklad tahle restaurace Kensington Quarter. A tohle misto neni jenom restaurace – je to kavarna, restaurace, bar a taky deli. Opravdu se clovek muze na tohle misto divat z tolika pohledu. A to dela Kensington Quarter unikatni. Kdyz jsem zacala psat modni blog, nikdy by me nenapadlo, ze me budou restaurace zvat na otevreni a taky jit na veceri a napsat recenzi. Ale zacina me to hrozne bavit, protoze jsem vlastne od zacatku vzdy psala o mistech, kam jsem sama chodila. A je uzasne jit na mista, kam by me treba nenapadlo ani jit.

Kensington Quarter usporadal veceri pro dvanact blogeru a vetsina z nich ma prave blogy o jidle a musim rict, ze v jejich spolecnosti je tak prijemne. Clovek se dozvi o mistech, ktere vyzkouseli a prijde vam, ze maji znalost kritiku jidla. LOL.

Samotna vecere mela devet chodu…ano ctete spravne 9. Ja jsem opravdu ochutnala vzdy sousto ci dve, protoze bych se musela domu odvalit. Nejlepsi predkrm pro me byl asi salat s kacenim stehnem a vajickem….vskutku delikatni a z hlavnich chodu mi nejvice Butternut Squash Rizoto. A i kdyz nejsem moc na deserty, tak priznavam, ze tyhle byly vynikajici a na prvni misto musim zaradit citronovy kolac. Ten se opravdu rozplyval na jazyku. Co jsem si opravdu uzivala byla vynikajici vina a asi nejvice se mi zamlouval Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Marlborough from NZ a desertni vino Monbazillac Jour de Fruit 2011.

Desertni vina jsou proste uzasna a kdyz mam to, nemusim mit ani desert. Na techto akcich jsem ale vetsinou nadsena nejvice z poznavani novych lidi a novych mist. Nikdy nevite, co vas ceka a co vam pristane na stole.

Takze pokud budete v Londyne, hodte na sebe krasne saty a hura do Kensington Quarter, kterou najdete blizko stanice Earl’s Court.

Sea Containers

Last week was very busy socially and I went to this new hot spot at Mondrian hotel twice. Tuesday I went for few drinks and snacks to their hotel bar and Friday we had a big dinner with my girlfriends. This is meant to be the new spot where to go and eat and I wanted to share this with you. Sea Containers is the new restaurant in the hotel itself.

The restaurant was buzzing when I arrived and it has got lovely opened kitchen. I arrived first so had a glass of red at the bar and tried to enjoy atmosphere while waiting for my friends. It was so good to see them all and really had a good time. We ordered lot of starters to share including delicious ceviche, kale salad, shaved mushrooms, lamb meatballs and tuna. I enjoyed all of them and tuna an kale were my favourite to be honest. As a main we ordered some fish and steak. The steak was a bit cold which was disappointing however tasted good enough. I have been to many places and restaurants but would not say this is the best place ever. It is good enough though.

What really needs to improve is the service. I had a feeling (and this can be partially because it is a new place) that people are not coordinated that well as of yet. When I asked question the staff had no clue and I thought they were quite rude at times especially when it came to closing time. First we were asked to leave the restaurant and have drinks at the hotel bar and then again we were asked to order last drinks at the bar and asked to leave again. The staff was rushing us to order quite quickly and it just was not service that you want to receive. And they really need to work on their speed. You can wait for your drinks order for ages.

Well, it is a new place so hopefully they will get the harmony right anytime soon. It has got a lot of potential so if they improve the service it will be a star quality spot.

Minuly tyden to byla opet jedna akce za druhou. Dokonce se mi podarilo na jedno misto jit hned dvakrat. Mondrian hotel ma byt jedno z tech novych trendy mist v Londyne a ani se nedivim, protoze ma skvelou lokaci s vyhledem na reku. V utery jsem byla na Vanocnim vecirku jedne PR agentury a v patek na veceri s kamaradkama. V patek jsem sla do hotelove restaurace Sea Containers.

Misto je to kouzelne a to hlavne diky lokaci. Koukate se na reku a vsude venku svetylka a pritom hotel designu je tak moderni. Kdyz jsem v patek dorazila tak restaurace byla jiz plna a mela skvelou atmosferu. Dala jsem si sklenicku cerveneho a koukala na kuchare, jak se cini. Mam rada restaurace, kde muzu videt do kuchyne. Dava mi to pocit jistoty, ze jidlo bude cerstve a dobre.

U stolu nas bylo sest a tak jsme si objednaly ze vseho trochu, at muzeme vyzkouset ruzne veci. Jako predkrm jsme mely ruzne dobroty vcetne jehnecich kulicek, kapustovy salat, ceviche, cerstve houby a tunaka. Vsechno bylo vyborne, ale uplne nej byla kapusta a tunak. Jako hlavni chod jsme si daly steak a rybu. Musim byt uprimna, ale steak byl docela studeny, coz bylo velke zklamani. Nektera mista jsou zkratka precenovana a hodne od nich ocekavate a pak jste zklamani.

Na cem musi restaurace opravdu zapracovat je servis, ten teda byl docela necekany. Nejdriv nas vyhodili z restaurace, at si dopijeme vino v baru a pak dvakrat z baru. Vsichni spechali, ze chteli zavrit, ale vetsinou byli docela nezdvorili. A pokazde, kdyz jsem se neco zeptala, tak nikdo nic nevedel. Spatny servis dokaze cloveka odradit, ale nebudu vam tady nalhavat, ze je to dokonale misto, kdyz jsem mela takovou zkusenost, ze? Doufam, ze se to pomalu bude zlepsovat, protoze castecne to muze byt tim, ze team jeste neni jeste dobre sehrany.

Mohlo by to byt skvele misto, ale maji co zlepsovat. Hlavne co se servisu tyce.

Weekend Fun in Dulwich

When the weather gets colder you have less things to do. In the summer there are so many options from BBQs to amazing trips on the boat or picnics. Winter does not bring that many options and you just want to snuggle on the sofa with a book or a good movie. Or you have another option…to grab your friend and have a lovely lunch in a cosy place, drink in a cute pub or just coffee in your favourite spot in the town.

So on Sunday I messaged my friend to put on a warm coat and come to my side of the City. I met Tereza in the afternoon and we headed in this rainy weather to one of the cutest places in London – Dulwich Village. It was her first time here and she loved it. I booked a table for lunch in Rocca which you have read about on my blog before. She put on an awesome outfit as always and wore Temperley top, Rag & Bone leather trousers, vintage waistcoat and fantastic Burberry coat which I forgot to snap for you. I went for less sexy and more cosy Asos faux fur gilet, Zara jeans and boots and handy Balenciaga bag. Well, I was definitely warm for sure.

We both try to be good with food so carbs were not really on our menu. Tereza was a great inspiration…finally Sunday without cheating with chocolate. LOL

And as the time was passing we did not feel like going home at all…so much to catch up on and trust me..she is full of great stories, ideas and inspiration. We moved few meters down the road to the cutest cafe in the village – Gail’s. We continued in our chit chat while warming our hands with delicious hot latte and mint tea. Oh, life is great with friends around. And Dulwich is such a sweet and magical place.

So I encourage all of you to make the best plans with you and your best friends for the next weekend. Don’t just sit home and have fun with your bestie in the hottest spot in your town.

Kdyz se venku ochladi, clovek ma hned mene moznosti, jak se zabavit. V lete nevite, co prvni a existuje tolik moznosti…od grilovani, pres piknik az po party na lodi. Bohuzel v zime se nikomu nikam nechce, nejradeji by se uvelebil v kresle s knizkou. Prijde mi, ze jedina z moznosti je dat si rande s kamaradkou v krasne hospudce a nebo si treba dat obed v prijemne restauraci.

V nedeli jsem se potkala s kamaradkou Terezkou a prestoze prselo, tak jsem se vydala do jedne z mych oblibenych restauraci v Dulwich Village – Rocca. Obe se momentalne snazime se trosku hlidat v jidle, takze jidlo bylo bez karbohydratu a jsem rada, ze jsem mela takoveho partaka, protoze jsem zvladla vikend bez nejakych velkych hrichu. Trikrat hura. A tady nas den nekoncil, protoze znate to, kdyz mate nejvice rozpovidano…tak se vam nechce domu a tak jsme se se odebraly do kavarny Gail’s na latte. Pokud budete mit nekdy cestu do teto casti, tohle krasne a utulne misto vas urcite nezklame a maji neskutecny vyber lakaveho peciva a taky i zdravejsich salatu.

Terezka se jako vzdy nadherne oblekla a dala si na sebe kozene kalhoty Rag & Bone, Temperley top a prekrasny Burberry kabat, ktery jsem vam zapomela vyfotit. Ja jsem jako vzdy byla lenivejsi a chtela byt co nejvic v teple a tahle vesta z Asosu me kazdopadne zahrala. A jak vidite, pocasi vas nemusi zastavit od toho si uzivat vikendu na plne obratky.

A doufam, ze uz planujete podobny vikend s kamaradkou ve vasi oblibene kavarne.
