Set in the most charming building of the old War office Cafe Laperouse could not pick better spot for their chic restaurant with incredible ambience. The iconic Parisian restaurant is finally in London and as soon as you enter it feels like you are in Paris without actually jumping on Eurostar. Especially this time of the year you can feel the Christmas magic tingling on your skin. The restaurant in Paris was the first one ever to receive three Michelin Stars and was favourite of many famous people and also carries very long tradition.
The London restaurant has two parts and that is stunning salon inside of the OWO building. You can enjoy dinners here with candles on and ambience to die for. It has very sexy and boudoir atmosphere and I can see many couples enjoying their dates here. However I chose to dine in the Pavillon which is in the courtyard and it was the most magical experience. As soon as I entered I knew it was good choice to dine here with my husband and our friends.
We got lovely table with the view of the courtyard and I totally fell in love with the luxury chic interior. It was a perfect match for my white Chanel bag :) I believe you can come here for breakfast, lunch and dinner whilst the salon is only open for dinners and no children allowed there. I feel that the courtyard part has more relaxed atmosphere for sure. It makes it a perfect destination for girls night out or dressed up lunches.
We ordered our starters and I have to give shoutout to our Oysters platter as it was out of this world. I also loved my traditional onion soup and would come back there just for this. The wine list is impressive and bottles of wine range from 70 £ to 3000 £ plus. In general if you decide to drink you have to count with very minimum 150 £ per head if you go for three course meal however it is worth it.
Sadly on our night the restaurant had some gas issues which was uncomfortable for everybody however they handled it so well. Our main courses let us down a lot after the exquisite starters and the restaurant did not ask us to pay for the main and neither the dessert that was on the house as apology. The staff is top class with extremely professional attitude and I also got a follow up email offering us another dinner experience and free dessert. I was a bit upset about being so unlucky that evening however the service really made up for it and I would come back here in a heartbeat.
I had steak tartare which was delicious as my main so i was happy with my choice however my dinner party went for warm options that due to the issues were a let down but given how good the starters were I am sure on any other night it would be a hit. The desserts were top class and to be honest I find it difficult to decide which one was the best. I really hope this place will become one of the most iconic London hotspots.
We truly had wonderful night despite the issue and I can highly recommend and cannot wait to come back.
