Autumn Trends: The Bags Of The Season

1

This autumn has brought us a lot of fascinating bag trends—some familiar, and others borderline unconventional. On the one hand, we’re seeing a lot of clutches with slight embellishments, such as furry exteriors or subtle slip straps. On the other, there are some fairly dramatic, boxy options that have taken centre stage in a lot of fashion write-ups.

But in between the familiar and the bizarre, there are also a lot of practical styles and delightful designs coming from some top designers. I looked to Lyst’s autumn backpack page to sum up some of these looks, as this page carries pieces from various labels showcasing a number of the best seasonal bag trends.

Rock Stud Bags

This is certainly one of the most popular design concepts in handbags and backpacks alike in autumn 2015. Rock studs are used to beautiful effect in these Valentino backpacks in particular, as they line the edges of items almost as if they’re replacing a seam or stitching. Hover, similar studs are present on a number of different types of bags this season, too, sometimes as subtle decorations and other times providing texture to smaller clutches and purses.

Bucket Bags

Featured as #25 on Fashionisers’ extensive look at autumn bags, the bucket bag is really one of the defining accessories of 2015. It’s nothing new for the autumn in that sense, but it certainly seems to be sticking around. These are wonderful options in that they offer the ease and accessibility of a traditional purse with the roominess of a backpack. They’re also coming out in a variety of specific styles, some made quite literally in bucket shapes, and others with more rounded or boxy looks.

Backpacks

Hand-in-hand with the bucket bag trend, backpacks have also become commonplace in fashionable bag collections in the latter months of 2015. Sometimes viewed as clunky or cumbersome, backpacks this season are all about style, employing textured materials, bold colours and patterns, and even stitched-on designs for added effect at times. These aren’t your traditional back-to-school bags but rather the high-end version, built for visual appeal as much as utility.

Pop The Colour

In its own look at autumn handbags, Grazia Daily cited “every colour to suit your mood” in the collections it highlighted, and really this is a suitable description of what we’re seeing in the accessory market. This autumn’s handbag colours are spread all across the spectrum, though there is a particularly noticeable focus on bold, popping shades. Bright yellows, blues, and reds in particular are showing up in abundance.

As you can see, there’s a lot to choose from beyond your standard purse options. It’s a wonderful year to grab a new bag.

Love Glamazon xoxo
