The Best Luxury-Looking Pieces on the High Street

What makes a high-street piece look expensive?

Shopping at high-street is fun, endless selection of affordable pieces that after all are inspired by what we have seen in the latest collections. It is one of the greatest fashion’s pleasures. The fashion production is so fast paced that we know we can always find luxury inspired items in the major chains. However, not on all occasions are the items decent quality so what to look out for? Some items look far more expensive than their price tag. And dressing in the autumn is so fun.

So, how do you tell the difference? I hope this will make a search for the best Luxury-Looking pieces on the High Street easier.

What should you look for when shopping the high street if you want your clothes to look luxurious, well made and expensive?

I’ve put together the key things I look out for — from fabric and fit to colour, hardware and those little details that can make all the difference.

  1. Look at the fabric before you look at the price. You can still find good quality fabrics in places like Zara, Mango, H&M, COS, Marks & Spencer or Massimo Dutti.

Natural fibres like cotton, silk, linen or wool can be a good starting point. Feel the fabric in your hands and see how the material behaves and feels on the body. Well made fabric will always give the impression of a more expensive design. The whole item looks and drapes differently.

2. It is all about the fit. Well made cute can go miles.

If the fit is right you do not have to spend hundreds of pounds on a blazer. Make sure you feel powerful when you try the item on and feel yourself as well. Nobody is giving luxe in a smaller blazer in which you struggling to lift your arms. A well cut high-street piece can look sometimes even better so put aside the price tag and feel the item on you.

3. Choose your colours carefully. Certain colours just look more high end.

I feel neutral colours like beige, brown, nudes but also shades of burgundy, camel, navy but and also black always give a feel of more expensive design. You will give the impression of well put together. These colours tend to create more polished look without spending a fortune.

4. Details are what matters. Think buttons, zips, hardware…

Even if you find the best fitting blazer and it’s tag proudly says 100 % wool the wrong buttons can ruin the overall effect of blazer. The finish and small details can make a huge difference and together with some elevated styling you will look incredible.

I have picked some fabulous pieces that are currently in the shops and are giving timeless and more expensive feel in my opinion. With items like these you do not need to spend thousands of pounds to achieve polished and luxurious looks.
