The Autumn Edit: 7 Simple Ways to Make Everyday Life Feel More Luxurious
Here I am, curled up in bed with my afternoon coffee in my favourite Gilmore Girls mug, enjoying the warmth of my home after a productive day. If this isn’t a perfect autumn day, then I honestly don’t know what is.
I am a self-confessed autumn lover and I am all about the mood outside and inside of my home. I love to romanticise the coffees, the cups of tea and knitted socks and blankets and of course candles. However, I understand being autumn lover can be quite niche.
So this autumn, I wanted to look at some simple ways we can all make everyday life feel a little more luxurious — without needing to spend a fortune or completely change our routines and perhaps show the sunshine lovers that the season of darker days and falling leaves has some magic
Because sometimes, luxury isn’t about buying something new. It’s about making the ordinary feel a little more special. This is all about creating the right autumn lifestyle.
- Make your morning coffee/tea/matcha routine special
I can drink coffee all year long but man it does hit different on a cosy and chilli morning. And there is a special atmosphere for it at the weekends when you know there is no rush. I love to slow down, put on some favourite music and just enjoy making the coffee like a small ritual. As you may have noticed one of my favourite purchase this season was the Gilmore Girls mug which gave me endless amount of joy as I can use it until Christmas. This honestly is a way to enjoy autumn. It is all about the small things that are as simple as new mug or cup of coffee.
- Enjoy the fashion
If you have been a regular reader you know I do love Autumn fashion. I have covered several articles on this topic but there is absolutely no need to go on a big splurge. You can shop your own closet and work with textures and layers. In case you want to get few pieces and treat yourself this year you can find some inspiration in the high-street. You can feel more luxurious and maybe make a nice day out shopping.
- Upgrade your beauty rituals
Autumn is a season when our bodies start to hybernate and perhaps the energy we used in the summer starts to fade away. I personally feel more tired and need to push myself more when it gets darker in the afternoons. However we can always use this to more self-care in the comfort of home. So why don’t you light a candle, have a bath with some wonderful salts and peeling or enjoy LED Mask session.
- Organise an Autumn soiree in your house
Set a mood in your house but no need to go overboard. You may use affordable candles, autumn vibe flowers on the table and some wholesome and yummy meal. Think autumn classics like anything with pumpkins, apples but also rich and easy foods like risotto. You can come up with some new version of classic cocktail but with an autumnal twist.
- Books and Good TV are your cosy partners
Nothing hits better than a book being read in the rain or a movie afternoon when it is gloomy outside and it hits even better when you squeeze in a walk before. I have a list of favourite autumnal films for sure and of course we have good TV shows like Gilmore Girls which I rewatch every season. But when it comes to films that deliver 100% autumn vibes, two of my absolute favourites have to be You’ve Got Mail and When Harry Met Sally. They have everything I want from an autumn film: cosy New York streets, beautiful interiors, oversized coats, coffee, romance and that unmistakable feeling of being wrapped up indoors while the world outside gets colder.
Honestly, give me an afternoon like this maybe with takeaway and glass of red wine and I am in.
- Learn a new recipe
You can also hit two birds with one stone by learning a new recipe or baking something that has autumn written all over it — ideally with a cosy movie playing in the background. People will be jealous of your cute and cosy autumn lifestyle.
And the cherry on the cake? Once you’ve mastered the recipe, you can serve it at your next autumn soirée. Suddenly, you’ve turned an ordinary afternoon into something productive, cosy and delicious.
A new recipe, a little baking, a good film and something impressive to serve your guests later? I’d call that a win-win. This is what luxury is about. Time for yourself, good food and making ordinary things feel special.
- Nothing screams more autumn then a cute autumn walk and little treat
As somebody that is hitting minimum of 10 000 steps a day (yes I am one of those) I am huge on walking. There are so many benefits to walking but honestly the intentional walk when you want to just clear your head hits different.
It is a way of meditation and in the autumn there is so much beauty around us. The treat can be as little as listening to a podcast you have been saving, making cup of something you love and taking it with you or do the walk with your friend. It is a way of socialising too. Autumn lifestyle at its best.
